Prior to my life as an accountant I worked as a high school teacher. This has given me a good understanding of what makes people tick.

It’s difficult for me to realise I have spent the last 25 years in the accounting profession, where did the time go? We are entering a very interesting and challenging phase for the economy but the following is still true today as it was 25 years ago;

“Understanding what the client is trying to achieve, and working towards the effective achievement of those goals, is and will always be my main objective”.

The last 25 years have seen me holding senior business service positions, working with several accounting firms.

My main area of expertise includes working mainly with SME’s, structuring of their business activities and managing the relationships between the business administrators and the external accounting function. Liaising between clients and other stakeholder has also become a major area of expertise.

I joined the HWI team because they are supportive, client focused with a shared commitment to help clients achieve their goals.

Away from the office I spend time with my wife Yvonne, and we have a keen interest in water sports. Diving, boating and fishing are our particular favourites.

I am currently President of Auckland Underwater Hockey, and have been involved with this for the last eight years. Something which began with managing my daughters’ secondary school teams but this quickly evolved into a much bigger role.
